Alpine pastures and dairies in the Montafon

A long cultural tradition in the mountains of Vorarlberg

Alpine agriculture in the Montafon has a long history. For hundreds of years, farmers have taken their livestock into the Alpine pastures in the summer. Today, they are a popular destination for hiking excursions and (e)mountain bike tours. Home-made cheese and butter are often produced from the fresh milked milk directly on-site and sold. You will find the Montafon Sura Kees on most menus.
